About Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett had never had a chart topping single or won a major award for a recording until 2003, but for over thirty years Buffett has performed in very popular national tours. Buffett's legions of fans called "the Parrotheads" flock to his concerts every year, and are a must see event for any die hard Jimmy Buffet fan. cheap Jimmy Buffett tickets don't last long wherever he goes, so make sure you join the party and get yours early.

James William Buffett was born on Christmas Day 1946 in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Jimmy Buffett grew up in Alabama and began to take up guitar while attending the University of Southern Mississippi. Fresh out of college with a love of music, Jimmy headed to Nashville and worked as correspondent for Billboard Magazine. Not long after arriving in Nashville in 1969, he began to build up connections in the business which ultimately led to his first record deal. The first two albums by Jimmy Buffett, Down to Earth (1970) and High Cumberland Jubilee (1971), were poorly produced and did not sell. In a serendipitous occurrence, Buffett decided to travel from tightly-laced Nashville to Miami for a supposed booking date. When he arrived, there was no job for him and so he went for a drive down the Florida A1A and found himself in Key West, the place that would become his adoptive home and inspiration for several of his songs.

It was in Key West that Jimmy Buffett created the tropical rock, country, and folk-infused sound he is now known for. His third album, A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean (1973) contained the single "Why Don't We Get Drunk?," a song that is now a staple of any Jimmy Buffett concert. Over the next quarter century, Jimmy Buffet would release a number of successful albums including Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes (1977), Songs You Know by Heart (1985), and Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads (1992), but he is best known for his catchy singles. The songs "Margaritaville" and "Cheeseburger in Paradise" are among his most popular songs and have even produced their own restaurant chains. Other singles include "Come Monday," "Hey Good Lookin'," and "It's Five O'clock Somewhere." "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" was recorded with Alan Jackson, and it won a CMA Award for Vocal Event of the Year after its release. In addition to his music, Jimmy Buffett has successfully launched his own chain of restaurants and has been the author of several books. Jimmy Buffet has had three books reach the top of the New York Times Bestseller list, including Tales from Margaritaville, Where is Joe Merchant?, and A Pirate Looks At Fifty.

Jimmy Buffett may be the owner of a popular restaurant chain, the author of bestselling books, and a very successful recording artist, but he makes time nearly every year to tour and play live for his fans. Because he only plays a limited number of shows, Jimmy Buffett tickets are sold out very quickly. So Parrotheads need to take notice this year because Jimmy Buffet may be coming to a venue near you.
