Before Creedence Clearwater Revival ever became the group we remember, John Fogerty along with his brother Tom Fogerty and other CCR bandmates Doug Clifford and Stu Cook formed the band Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets before then becoming The Golliwogs. It wasn't until 1968 that Creedence Clearwater Revival hit it big, making John Fogerty a star. In a span of less than five years, the band released nine top ten singles, all of which were written by Fogerty. Some of the important albums that were released include Bayou Country (1969), Cosmo's Factory (1970) and Pendulum (1970).
The band dissolved in 1972, and Fogerty took the opportunity to embark on a career of his own. He first released an album of cover songs under the name The Blue Ridge Rangers (1973) and followed that with the self-titled John Fogerty (1975). Neither of the albums scored the success Fogerty was looking for, and he was not heard from again for nearly a decade afterwards. Then, in 1984, Fogerty flexed his musical muscles and released Centerfield (1984) which found its way to the top of the U.S. Billboard charts. Fresh off of the multi-platinum success of Centerfield, John Fogerty followed up with Eye of the Zombie in 1986. Overall, the second album was a bust and once again, the singer went into seclusion.
It was over a decade later that Fogerty burst back on the scene with Blue Moon Swamp (1997). The record landed in the Top 40 and over the next ten years John Fogerty released four more Top 40 albums including Déjà vu (All Over Again) (2004) and Revival (2007).
