Singer Josh Groban was born on February 27, 1981 in Los Angeles, CA. Throughout his childhood, Josh Groban was focused on becoming an actor, but during the summers of 1997 and 1998 he attended the Interlochen Center for the Art Camp in Michigan. At camp, Josh Groban studied music theater and also took vocal lessons. Upon graduating for the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 1999 he enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University, only to drop out four months later after being offered a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records.
Josh Groban began making a name for himself the same year, first working for singer David Foster as a rehearsal singer on high-profile events, such as the 1999 inauguration of former California Governor Gray Davis and as a stand-in for Andrea Bocelli, while David Foster rehearsed “The Prayer” with Celine Dion in preparation for the 1999 Grammy Awards. That year’s Grammy’s host, Rosie O’Donnell was impressed with Josh Groban’s singing abilities and invited him onto her show, which led to him making two appearances on the Fox comedy-drama, Ally McBeal.
Around the same time, Josh Groban began performing at many benefit shows and he also recorded his debut self-titled album, which was released in 2001. The album would go on to become double-platinum by 2002.
Fast forward to today, and Josh Groban has continued to record albums, tour, and perform at various major events, such as at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Norway and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2002 and Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. Josh Groban has released a total of six studio albums, most recently Stages in 2015.
