Singer Josh Groban was born on February 27, 1981 in Los Angeles, CA. Throughout his childhood, Groban was focused on becoming an actor, but during the summers of 1997 and 1998 Groban attended the Interlochen Center for the Art Camp in Michigan. At camp, he would study music theater and also take vocal lessons. Upon graduating for the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 1999 he enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University, only to drop out four months later after being offered a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records.

Groban began making a name for himself the same year, first working for singer David Foster as a rehearsal singer on high-profile events, such as the 1999 inauguration of former California Governor Gray Davis and as a stand-in for Andrea Bocelli while David Foster rehearsed “The Prayer” with Celine Dion in preparation for the 1999 Grammy Awards. That year’s Grammy’s host, Rosie O’Donnell was impressed with Groban’s singing abilities and invited him on her show, which led to him making an appearance on the Fox comedy-drama Ally McBeal.

While continuing his acting role on Ally McBeal, Groban also performed at many benefit shows and recorded his debut self-titled album, which was released in 2001. The album would go on to become double-platinum by 2002.

Throughout the 2000s and up to present day Groban has continued to record albums, tour, and perform at various major events, such as at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Norway, Super Bowl XXXVII, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. As of 2015 he has released six studio albums, with his newest album Stages set to be released later this year. In anticipation of his new album, Groban will be embarking on the “Stages” tour this fall.
