Justin Drew Bieber was born in Stratford, Ontario, on March 1, 1994. Throughout his childhood, Bieber learned how to sing and how to play instruments such as the guitar and trumpet. In 2008, Bieber caught the attention of the world through a series of YouTube video covers of songs by Usher, Chris Brown, Stevie Wonder, and other artists. After arriving in Atlanta to audition for Usher, Bieber was signed to Island Records.
Bieber released his debut EP, My World, in November of 2009. The record was a hit in North America, with popular songs such as "One Time," "One Less Lonely Girl," and "Common Denominator." Following the release, Bieber opened for Taylor Swift on two of the country artist's UK show dates. My World 2.0 was released on March 23, 2010, and was followed up by Under the Mistletoe in 2011 and Believe in 2012.
