As the winner of the first season of the hit television reality show American Idol, Kelly Clarkson won over the hearts of millions of fans. Now, years after her win, she continues to build a fan base that lines up for Kelly Clarkson tickets.
Kelly Clarkson grew up in the small town of Burleson, Texas. While growing up she had aspirations of becoming a marine biologist, and it wasn't until she received a little encouragement that she began to see her talent as a singer. As she was singing in the hallways of her school one of her teachers heard her voice and convinced Kelly Clarkson to join the school choir. At the age of thirteen she appeared in one of her school's shows, where she performed Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love." That marked the moment she realized she wanted to sing. Clarkson told Reader's Digest that after the show an old man came up to her and said, "God has given you this gift. You've got to sing. You're destined to sing." After that she kept singing.
After a friend told her about a new talent search television show, American Idol, Kelly Clarkson decided to give it a shot. She was one among 10,000 contestants and after weeks of eliminations, Kelly Clarkson was the last one standing. Her first single, "A Moment Like This," reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and a star was born. Her first album, Thankful (2003), reached the top of the charts and has since gone 2x platinum. Her follow up album, Breakaway, has sold more than 12 million albums and is certified 6x platinum. It also earned her two Grammy Awards in 2006, Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Her third studio album, My December (2007), gave Kelly Clarkson her first chance to write most of the songs on the album. My December has since gone to platinum status.
