
This musical farce features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and a book by Harvey Fierstein. The show premiered on Broadway in 1983 and was a huge hit, garnering nine Tony Award nominations and winning six Tonys, including Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. The show ran for four years, during which time a West End production was also launched. In 2010, a Broadway revival began starring Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge.
