The hit movie Legally Blonde was first made into a musical in 2007, with a tryout in San Francisco. The show soon moved to Broadway's Palace Theatre, where it garnered mostly positive reviews and earned over $1 million a week several times. Although the musical was nominated for seven Tony Awards, it did not take home any wins. However, the West End production in 2009 received three Laurence Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical.
