Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too Short for the price Lionel Ritchie was great. He was talented and energetic. The sounds, lighting, effects, and projections greatly enhanced the performance. The musicians and other singers were very talented as well. The seating was poor. It was not theater style, just rows of chairs chained together. ~$400 for a 55 minute performance was not worth it. The concert attendees in front of were quite inconsiderate. It's great to want to stand up, dance, and enjoy yourself, but those who stand must go to the front to be considerate of those in the back, especially of you are a large man over 6 feet. If you want to attend, just keep in mind how long the performance is and gauge how much it's worth it to pay or how much you're willing to pay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performance - we'll worth it The concert was outstanding - the volume of the music was perfect - sometimes the music drowns out the singer - the effects were amazing g - and when Lionel sang Dancing on the Ceiling - and some of the band members began floating up to the ceiling dancing and then a dancing came down from the ceiling oh man!!!! Not a boring moment. The band was apart of the concert they were participatory. The venue was great once we found our way there - when we entered the hotel the signs were not clear to the location of the venue. Everything was great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great concert This legend has been singing forever. Huge age range from 21-90, seriously. Richie sounded exactly like his recorded music. He was funny, entertaining and made us all smile. You're the best. Highly recommend the theater too. No bad seat in the house

Lionel Richie was born Lionel Brockman Richie, Jr. on June 20, 1949 in Tuskegee, Alabama. When Richie was still growing up, his family moved to Joliet, Illinois, where his mother, Alberta, was a high school principle and his father worked at Joliet Arsenal. Richie graduated from Joliet Township High School and got his undergraduate degree from Tuskegee Institute. While still in college, he assisted in forming the R&B group The Commodores where he sang and played the saxophone. The Commodores signed on to Atlantic Records in 1968 and then Motown Records soon after. The soul group, famous for songs such as "Brick House" peaked in the 1970s, wherein Richie began writing songs for himself and other artists.

While still a part of The Commodores, Richie sang a duet with Diana Ross for the movie Endless Love, which turned into the platinum single that jump-started Richie's solo career. Soon after he left The Commodores in 1982, he produced a single entitled "Truly" from his self-titled debut album which became number one in the US. His sophomore album, Can't Slow Down, skyrocketed Richie to stardom, winning multiple awards and containing the number one single "All Night Long." Other major hits for that decade include "Hello" and "Stuck on You," released in 1984.

In 1986, Richie released his next album, Dancing on the Ceiling, which featured the songs "Say You, Say Me" and "Dancing on the Ceiling." Though this was his last widely popular album, Richie has sold more than 100 million copies of his various albums, and has won many awards which include an Oscar and a Golden Globe among others. He has not stopped making music, either. His most recent album, Tuskegee, was released in 2012, and Lionel Richie tours continue to be popular.

That popularity will continue in to 2017 as another Lionel Richie tour is beginning this upcoming March. Lionel Richie has recruited Mariah Carey for this 35-show tour, and fans of classic pop and R&B music will flock to venues to see these two legends perform together live.
