Michael Flatley's parents were Irish immigrants in Chicago. He embraced his heritage from childhood on and became interested in dancing at an early age. Michael Flatley started working on Lord of the Dance shortly after he left Riverdance. The show made its debut in Ireland and quickly spread across the globe. Lord of the Dance became and instant success, yet Michael Flatley only starred in the show for its first two years.
