Showing 1-25 of 170 results. For the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the 2009 season was a special year. The past few baseball seasons have been greeted with lofty expectations of World Series titles, and have ended with postseason disappointment. This past MLB off-season, the Angels lost key members of last season's AL West champion team including Mark Teixiera, Garrett Anderson and Francisco Rodriguez. But the additions of Bobby Abreu and Brian Fuentes helped the Angels regain their swagger, and hold on to the title of American League West Champions.
As they enter the playoffs, the Angels will see a familiar postseason opponent, the Boston Red Sox. In previous seasons the Red Sox have been able to handle the Angels, dismissing them from the playoffs in three of the last four seasons. But the Angels are a changed team. They have gone from a free-swinging offense, to a patient and powerful line-up. They finished the season second in the league in runs scored and have drawn more walks than in years past. Combined that with their speed and depth at pitching, the Angels will be a tough out for the Sox and baseball fans will benefit by having a great series to watch. If you want ALDS tickets for this series, check out TicketNetwork for the selection of seats at both Fenway Park and Angel Stadium. When translated from Spanish, 'Los Angeles' means 'The Angels', so it is only fitting that a Major League Baseball team in LA has taken that name. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, formerly known as just the Anaheim Angels, joined the American League in 1961 and immediately established itself as an elite baseball franchise. They finished with a record of 70-91, a record that still stands as the highest winning percentage for an expansion team. The Angels currently play their home games at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA in front of capacity crowds of more than 45,000 Angels fans. Getting tickets to the stadium can be a tough job, so let us help you out by giving you a huge selection of hard-to-get seats at great prices for all 162 Angels' games this season, and through the playoffs.
For many years before the Angels ever took the field, baseball in Los Angeles was only a fantasy, not a reality. The initial talks were to take an existing team and to move them to the west coast, but each time the talks would end up with everyone standing pat. Then in 1958, the National League beat the American League to the punch when the Brooklyn Dodgers relocated and became the Los Angeles Dodgers. It wasn't long before both leagues agreed to expand with each league getting one new team, as the National League brought in the New York Mets and the American League expanded with the Los Angeles Angels.
In recent years the Angels have seen the most success in their team's history. Before the 2002 season, the team played in a total of three playoff series and lost in each of them. In 2002, however, the team finished with a record of 99-63 and made the playoffs for the first time in 16 years. In the first round they ousted the New York Yankees in four games and then in the second round they eliminated the Minnesota Twins in five to advance to the World Series. In there first ever World Series, the Angels were pitted against slugger Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants. The series was hard fought, but behind players like Troy Glaus, Francisco Rodriguez and John Lackey, they were able to capture their first ever World Series championship. In the years since, the team has become one of the most formidable franchises in the American League.
