Louis C.K. Biography

Louis Szekely, known to most as Louis C.K. is a comedian, actor, writer, director, and producer, who was born on September 12, 1967 in Washington, D.C. When Louis C.K. was an infant, his parents moved to Mexico, where Louis C.K.'s father was originally from, however they moved to Boston, MA when Louis C.K. was seven years old. Soon after returning to the United States his parents divorced and Louis C.K., along with his three sisters, were raised by their mother in Newton, MA.

Upon graduation from high school, Louis C.K. found work at a public access TV station in Boston, which, according to him, game him the technical knowledge and tools he would eventually use in the creation of television shows. Around the same time, Louis C.K. began performing stand-up at open mic nights at comedy clubs around Boston. After a rocky start, Louis C.K. began opening for well-known comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld.

Louis C.K. moved to Manhattan in 1989 and worked primarily as a writer, wrorking for shows such as the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Dana Carvey Show, and The Chris Rock Show.

After supporting roles in movies and films, Louis C.K. finally landed his own television show in 2006, titled Lucky Louie. Airing on HBO, the show was cancelled after its first season. In 2009, Louis C.K. debuted a new show titled Louie. Airing on FX, the show quickly became a hit and has since received multiple awards.

Along with his television work, Louis C.K. often spends time on the road, performing stand-up for fans across the country.
