About Macbeth

Few can ever hope to have the ability to tell a story quite like the great English poet and playwright William Shakespeare. One of his most well-known and beloved plays was that of Macbeth, a tragedy about a man who sells his soul to be king, only to have to face the consequences of his actions. Now you have the chance to see one of the all-time great plays brought to life by getting your Macbeth tickets today.

No one has been able to pinpoint the date that Macbeth was written; many believe that the play was penned anywhere from 1603 to 1606. Macbeth has proven to be a timeless classic and has been adapted many times over for film, television and theatre. Not one of the adaptations has been quite the same, including films like Men of Respect (1991), which set the story as a Mafia power struggle; Macbeth 3000 (2005), which combined the classic story with James Bond; and Macbeth (2006), which set the story against a violent gang war.

No matter the setting, the plot is the same: Macbeth is a story of power, desire, deception and murder. The play begins as the Three Witches prophesize that Macbeth is going to rise to be King of Scotland, but that future kings will descend from Banquo, a fellow army captain. Macbeth proceeds to kill the king in power and take over the throne. Determined to not to see the Three Witches' prophecy come true, he plots to kill Banquo and his sons. Will his efforts succeed?

  • There are many superstitions based on the notion that the play is somehow cursed, and many actors will not state the name of the play out loud, referring to it instead as "the Scottish play."
