About the Milwaukee Brewers
The Milwaukee Brewers, who were named after the cities long history with the brewing company, came to the city before the 1970 season. More than 37,000 fans bought Milwaukee Brewers tickets and piled into County Stadium to witness the teams first game on April 7, 1970. The team dropped the game 12-0, but the Milwaukee Brewers were here to stay. If you want to see the Brew Crew in person, get your cheap Milwaukee Brewers tickets today!
Bud Selig purchased the Seattle Pilots, and being a native of Milwaukee, promptly moved the team to his hometown. During the first seasons of the franchise, the Milwaukee Brewers struggled not finishing with any more than 76 wins in their first nine seasons. One of the bright spots of the long stretch of losing was the debut of Robin Yount. Yount played for the Milwaukee Brewers from 1973 through 1993, and is now recognized as maybe the greatest Brewer ever. He helped lead the team to its only two playoff appearances in 1981 and 1982. In 1982, the team defeated the California Angels and advanced to the World Series versus the St. Louis Cardinals, the first and only fall classic appearance.
From 1970 through 1997, the Milwaukee Brewers played as part of Major League Baseball's American League. But following the 1997 season the Milwaukee Brewers were transferred to the National League Central division as part of the baseball's realignment plan.
