Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional play I was thrilled to hear the songs of my youth sung live. I was so moved the tears streamed down my face reliving the memories. The story beautifully wound together the racism of the times and the almost impossible task of bringing this fabulous music to the white public. Thank you Barry Gordy for your perseverance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great show! ok venue The show was fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who grew up in the Motown era, likes fantastic music that was considered "black music" but ultimately won the hearts of a nation through one man's dream and hard work and those who shared his vision. The venue while given correctly on the tickets was advertised incorrectly as the Kimmel center, so arriving nearly late we had to go further down the street making us later, and we were with a crowd doing this , so it wasn't just us. On our arrival we had to choose between the slowest moving elevator ever and about 8 flights of steps. We chose the steps not only because its good cardio but we definitely would have been late waiting for the elevator. Once we arrived at our seats we found them to be the worst seats ever. Not only were we at the highest place in the theater ( I believe) but they were two seats all the way to the right of the building by themselves with a huge column blocking 7/8 of the stage. The two tickets I purchased for $164 total cost said " slightly obstructed view". Fortunately we moved over to the row adjacent to ours and had a wonderful view even for the level we were on.Once this marvelous production ended leaving me great memories of fine portrayals of Berry Gordy, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and a young Michael Jackson in scenes involving awesome music and dance that were true to its day it was back to the stairs going down because even though we were next in line for the elevator it was an interminable wait. Overall the building is beautiful inside and out and a fitting venue for entertainment of an elite kind such as we saw. I owe most of the things I complained about to the old age of the building and that it can only be modernized so much to accommodate guests in comfort. The day was an anniversary gift to the love of my life who I've been with thirteen years as of June 16th and I wouldn't have missed a moment of it. I am very happy overall with the way this date worked out. It was truly an experience I will always cherish.
