My Morning Jacket is an eclectic American rock band that combines the sounds of indie rock, country rock, southern rock, psychedelic and jam band styles. They released their debut album, The Tennessee Fire, in 1999 on Darla Records. In 2001, the group followed up their debut with the release of their second album on Darla called At Dawn. Even though the album At Dawn was recorded with former drummer J. Glenn, he had already left My Morning Jacket by the time the album was released. J. Glenn was replaced by Chris "K.C." Guetig, but ultimately, Guetig would be replaced by Patrick Hallahan.
In 2002, My Morning Jacket signed on to ATO Records and immediately headed into the studio to start recording their major label debut album. The group released that album in 2003, entitled It Still Moves. Former My Morning Jacket members Johnny Quaid and Danny Cash both left in 2004 on good terms. Carl Broemel came in to replace Johnny Quaid and Bo Koster was to replace Danny Cash. After Quaid and Koster joined My Morning Jacket, they released two collections of early work from the band. The collections included old demos, live versions, and covers. The two releases that documented that band's early years were called Early Recordings Chapter 1 - The Sandworm Cometh and Early Recordings Chapter 2 - Learning.
In 2005, My Morning Jacket recorded and released the critically acclaimed album Z. In 2006, My Morning Jacket had the privilege of performing at the Boston Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops. That same year, My Morning Jacket released a live double album and DVD entitled Okonokos.
