The Saints, an NFL team with a rich and inspiring history joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1966. "Saints" is a reference to the city of New Orleans' rich jazz music history, and specifically refers to the song "When the Saints Go Marching In". The Saints first 20 years in the league did not bring much success but their fortunes changed in the Jim E. Mora era, when Tom Benson acquired the franchise in 1985 and hired Mora as head coach. During the decade Mora was coach the Saints won a division title (in 1991) and made the playoffs four times, certainly affecting the demand for New Orleans Saints football tickets! After a few more seasons of success and some of disappointment tragedy struck in 2005 – Hurricane Katrina.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina ripped through the Louisiana coast, including New Orleans where the Saints stadium, the Louisiana Superdome, was severely damaged. During the following year drama would unfold, with threats to relocate the team Texas, and concerns that New Orleans would no longer be a good location for an NFL franchise. But the Saints endured, the people of New Orleans were resilient and fought to rebuild the city and keep the Saints in the Black & Gold colors playing in the city they loved. With the Superdome rebuilt in 2006, the Saints were able to play their home games there again! The home opener that year was a wondrous occasion, with both Green Day and U2 performing before kickoff. During that season, newly hired coach Sean Payton led the resurgent franchise to an NFC championship game, finishing the season with a 10-6 record and moving tons of Saints tickets.

Three years later, during the 2009 season the New Orleans Saints started the year 13-0, the best start in franchise history. They record earned them a first round playoff bye and a trip to the NFC Championship game where they defeated the Vikings in Overtime. The next week, the Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on February 7th, 2010, to win their first Super Bowl in franchise history. You can imagine Super Bowl tickets were in high demand for that game! After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and the rebuilding of the Superdome, this championship represented the resurgence of a football franchise, and an entire city.
