Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock," "Rock of Ages") and Shia LaBeouf ("Transformers,"Indiana Jones") take the stage in this revival of the 1983 play of the same name. Orphans premiered at The Matric Theatre in Los Angeles; there, it won the Drama-Logue Award and went on to be performed at other theaters, including Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago and Westside Arts Theatre in New York. Directed by Daniel Sullivan and created by Lyle Kessler, Orphans will show at Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York for a limited 15-week engagement.
In North Philadelphia, two orphaned brothers find themselves living in a decaying row house. Older brother Treat scrapes by with petty thievery, which he uses to support his damaged younger sibling Phillip. A simple-minded boy, Treat effectively makes Phillip a prisoner in the row house, and he ups his antics by kidnapping a rich, older man named Harold. When Harold ends up having his own motives, an unlikely friendship develops. Catch the dark comedy with Orphans tickets!
