Although rebuilding, the young, upstart Philadelphia 76ers are an exciting team to watch, and always put on exhilarating show. Getting your hands on Philadelphia 76ers tickets could be the best decision you make all year – you’ll be right there to see all the action in person; such as seeing Nerlens Noel and former Duke center Jahlil Okafar – the 3rd pick in the 2015 NBA draft – dominate on the offensive end. After trading their star point guard Michael Carter-William at the 2015 NBA trade deadline the Sixers are ready for a fresh start; and they have the young talent to make an impact on the eastern conference playoff race.

The Philadelphia 76ers are a basketball franchise rich in history and legend. They began in the National Basketball League as the Syracuse Nationals before joining the newly formed National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1949. The NBA struggled in its early years, and its revitalization was thanks in large part to Nationals owner Danny Biasone, who created what we now know as the 24-second shot clock. This sped games up, making the action livelier and more stimulating for the fans. In 1963 the Syracuse Nationals moved to Philadelphia, and took on the iconic name we all know today – The Philadelphia 76ers, or 'Sixers' for short. In their inaugural season the Sixers acquired Wilt Chamberlain, regarded as one of the best NBA players of all time. They had instant success that first year making the playoffs, although ultimately losing to the Boston Celtics in the conference semi-finals as John Havlicek stole a Hal Greer pass to put the game away -- a play that will live in infamy forever. The next year was even more successful for the 76ers as they ended with season with a 68-13 record, the best in league history. The Sixers won an NBA Championship and also defeated the Celtics in the playoffs -- successfully ending Boston's playoff domination.

After the Sixers' championship things quickly turned sour for the Philadelphia 76ers – they traded their star Wilt Chamberlain and subsequent seasons continued to get worse and worse. In 1972 the Sixers finished with the worst record in NBA history, going 9-73, a 0.110 winning percentage. The rollercoaster ride continued for the 76ers’ and in 1976 they were once again finding playoff success, due to the acquisition of Julius Irving (AKA Dr. J)– another player regarded as one of the best to ever play the game. With Dr. J on the court Sixers tickets were some of the NBA's hottest. Fortune continued to shine on the Sixers and they acquired center Moses Malone from the Houston Rockets in 1982. Malone was the league MVP that year, and the Sixers cruised to the title, only losing one game total in the playoffs, a remarkable feat. Although Julius Irving retired after the 1986 season the Sixers still had winning seasons with their new star Charles Barkley. Barkley ended up playing only five seasons in Philly before he was traded to the Phoenix Suns.

The frequent ups and downs of the Sixers franchise continued, with the departure of Barkley, and the recent retirement of Julius Irving the 76ers’ spiraled out of control, losing games at an alarming rate – four miserable losing seasons in a row. The Sixers had a losing season for their fifth year in a row in 1996 but things were looking up, they had drafted Allen Iverson, "The Answer" to the 76ers woes. The city had high hopes for the point guard, and were looking for him to bring a title back to Philly. In 2001 they Sixers had a miraculous playoff run, making it all the way to the NBA Finals with their star Allen Iverson averaging an insane 33 points per game! Although they would eventually lose that series to the Los Angeles Lakers it would seem winning basketball was back in Philly. Although the 76ers are in the middle of a rebuilding year, you can get your 76ers basketball tickets today and see the future of the franchise develop in front of your eyes.
