With the team having a history of 125 years old, the Philadelphia Phillies have had some great players put on their uniform. One of the earliest was pitcher Grover Cleveland Alexander, who played seven seasons for the team first from 1911-1917, then in 1930. Over his career he compiled nearly 400 wins and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938. Another great Philadelphia Phillies player and future hall of famer from the early 20th century was Rickie Ashburn who played for the team from 1948-1959. One of the all time great players to play at the hot corner, Schmidt helped the 1980 Philadelphia Phillies capture the World Series title, the only one in franchise history.
