About Reba McEntire

For over 30 years there hasn't been a larger force in country music than Reba McEntire. Often referred to as the Queen of Country Music, McEntire is a Grammy Award-winning singer who has sold more than 50 million records over the course of her career. She continues to tour around the country to the delight of audiences, who can't get enough Reba!

McEntire grew up near Chockie, Oklahoma, where her father performed in rodeos as a champion calf roper, an activity that the whole McEntire family enjoyed. Reba and her siblings also enjoyed singing, and even performed under the moniker the Singing McEntires. It was Reba's love for music and rodeo that led her to her first recording contract. While singing the national anthem at the 1974 National Rodeo finals, recording artist Red Steagall saw her and was so impressed he got her a recording session in Nashville. It led to her signing with Mercury Records in 1975. Over her career McEntire has released more than 30 albums that featured 23 number one singles, including fan favorites "How Blue" and "Somebody Should Leave." She is also a decorated artist, winning, to date, 74 awards ranging from Grammys to Academy of Country Music Awards.

Along with her music career, McEntire broadened her career and began to work on a television sitcom entitled Reba. The show premiered in 2001 on the WB Network and became the top rated show on the network. Just as with her music career, she saw success on television, as her show was nominated for five awards including two Emmys and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series. McEntire took home a People's Choice Award for Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series in 2002. The show ran until February 18, 2007.

Despite the excursions into film and television, McEntire has remained a popular touring artist. She frequently tours with fellow country veteran George Strait, as well as newer artists like Lee Ann Womack.
