Robert Plant was discovered by guitarist Jimmy Page while he was performing as part of the band Hobbstweedle. It was that performance that landed Plant the lead singer spot in Page's new band, Led Zeppelin. Along with drummer John Bonham and bassist/keyboardist John Paul Jones, the band is widely considered one of the pre-eminent rock bands of all time. Since the time of their formation in 1968 until today, Robert Plant and the rest of Led Zeppelin have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide and more than 110 million in the US. Their album Led Zeppelin IV (1971) proved to be their most successful, selling in excess of 23 million in the US and going twenty-three times platinum. Following the death of drummer John Bonham, the band parted ways and Robert Plant embarked on his own solo career. Plant released the albums Pictures at Eleven (1982), The Principal of Moments (1983), The Honeydrippers (1984) and Now and Zen (1988).
The roots of Alison Krauss' musical career go all the way back to 1985, when she was recorded on her brother's independent album. Although she was young, her talents shined through and over her more than twenty year career she has released seven Top 10 US Country albums including Now That I've Found You (1995), Forget About It (1999) and Lonely Runs Both Ways (2004). Her contribution as an artist and producer have not gone unrecognized, as Alison Krauss has received an astounding twenty-one Grammy Awards in her career for categories like Best Bluegrass Album, Best Country Album and Album of the Year.
