Rocky the Musical is loosely based on the 1976 film "Rocky," written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. Stallone, who also wrote and starred in each "Rocky" sequel, penned the screenplay for Rocky the Musical with Thomas Meehan (The Producers). It first debuted in Hamburg, Germany, in 2012 before the show opened on Broadway March 13, 2014 at the Winter Garden Theatre.The cast includes Andy Karl as Rocky; Mardo Seibert as Adrian; and Terence Archie, who starred in the original Hamburg production, as Apollo Creed. Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher) directs, while Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime) and Lynn Ahrens make up the songwriting team.
