About Stars on Ice

Scott Hamilton, the creator of Smucker's Stars on Ice, was born on August 28, 1958 in Ohio. At age two, he got sick and stopped growing. Although doctors could not diagnose the problem, they prescribed a healthy diet and exercise that helped him feel better. When Scott Hamilton saw his older sister Susan ice skating, he wanted to try it too. Once he began ice skating, he regained his health. Even as a child, Scott Hamilton surprised everyone with his speed and confidence on the rink. He began training for a national competition at age 13, and by 1980 he was competing in the Olympics.
