About So You Think You Can Dance
So You Think You Can Dance was created in 2005 by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe of American Idol. SYTYCD is based on a similar principle as American Idol in which auditions are held throughout the United States and contestants of all dance backgrounds are chosen to compete on the show. Each week the contestants are challenged to perform a different genre of dance and each week a contestant gets voted off of So You Think You Can Dance.
During the summer of 2005, SYTYCD was rated #1 show for adults ages 18-49 in the US. So You Think You Can Dance is also broadcasted outside of the US where it remains a huge success. SYTYCD can be seen in Australia, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Thailand, Italy, Poland, Africa, China, New Zealand, and Singapore. Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance premiered on May 22, 2008 and is currently getting ready to set out in a huge North American tour where contestants from the show will perform in theaters and arenas across the US and Canada where they will demonstrate their dancing skills live for all the SYTYCD fans.
