Reggae is a form of music that was developed in Jamaica in the 1960s. It was influenced by African and Carribean music, as well as Jamaican ska, rocksteady and American R&B. Beginning as a slowed down version of the faster tempoed ska, reggae has since developed into a number of different styles. Reggaeton is a fusion form of reggae and latin music that emerged in 1990 and gained mainstream popularity in the mid-2000s. Other popular forms of reggae include dancehall, dub, rockers, and roots reggae.
