Andy Roddick, the last great American male tennis player, took home the title twice during his career, and Novak Djokovic, currently the best tennis player on the planet, has won six times. On the women's side Serena Williams has dominated down in Miami as well.

Miami Open Tennis has been played for 31 years now as the inaugural event was held back in 1985. The tournament has grown in popularity every year and attracts a lot of tennis fans to the tournament. The defending champs who will be looking to retain the title are Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka. Novak has won the last three Miami Open tournaments as well as five of the last six. His biggest competition will be Andy Murray who was able to interrupt Djokovic's streak back in 2013. Victoria Azarenka won in impressive fashion in 2016, but she will have to deal with eight-time Miami Open Champion Serena Williams in 2017.
