The 39 Steps - A Brief History
The 39 Steps was originally a novel written by John Buchan in 1915. The story was then adapted to film by Alfred Hitchcock in 1935. The 39 Steps, the play, was conceived by Simon Corble and Nobby Dinn, and was adapted to the stage by Patrick Barlow. The play first premiered on November 14, 2007 at the Huntington Theater in Boston, and is currently playing on Broadway at the American Airlines Theater. The 39 Steps won both the 2007 Oliver and What's On Stage Awards for Best Comedy.
The original The 39 Steps was a "juicy spy novel" featuring the famous adventure hero Richard Hannay. In Hitchcock's adaptation, The 39 Steps becomes the thrilling story of an innocent man on the run. Now, The 39 Steps is presented as a "wonderfully inventive and gripping comedy thriller." Four actors - Arnie Burton, Charles Edwards, Jennifer Ferrin, and Cliff Saunders - play a total of 150 roles over the course of just 100 minutes.
The 39 Steps will incorporate all of the legendary scenes from Hitchcock's film, including the first ever bi-plane crash performed on stage. This play is guaranteed to thrill, amuse, and amaze, and tickets will surely be hard to get! TicketNetwork has the best selection of cheap tickets for The 39 Steps, so be sure to get yours today!
