Scottish author John Buchan wrote a thriller called The 39 Steps in 1915. A spy novel, the book introduced a Canadian hero called Richard Hannay. In 1935, the famous director Alfred Hitchcock made The 39 Steps into a film about secrets, blackmail, and the mysterious Mr. Memory. Today, the 39 Steps story is also a play. When the play begins, our hero, Richard, is bored. But then he meets a femme fatale.
Trapped in a world of secrets, double agents, and beautiful women, Richard Hannay ends up running for his life with spies and villains in pursuit.
