About Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire is just one example of how a band can rise in popularity very quickly. They originally came together in Boston in 2001 before moving to their current home of Montreal. Despite some initial friction among the members, Arcade Fire was able to release their first self-titled EP. The work was a success, and Arcade Fire's first performances were packed. Their first release had captured the attention of the locals, but their profile was about to grow. A lot.

After releasing Funeral in 2004, the band planned for a tour of club-sized venues, only to learn that they needed to find bigger ones, such as was their growing popularity. Their acceptance among music listeners was again confirmed after a string of successful festival performances, such as Coachella, the following year.

By the time Neon Bible was released in 2007, Arcade Fire had also gained the attention of other artists. David Bowie joined them for a show, and U2 invited them to open for three concerts on the Irish band's Vertigo tour. Neon Bible clocked in at #1 in Canada, and won a Juno Award. Arcade Fire took to the road to support the album and fans were treated to 89 shows before the circuit ended in 2008.

Following the success of the Neon Bible Tour, the band was firmly in the big leagues. They were regulars at summer festivals, were enjoying steady album sales, and were able to book Madison Square Garden. The next logical step was to win a Grammy, and the release of The Suburbs in August 2010 put them in the running. The following February Arcade Fire won Album of the Year.
