The Cheetah Girls was spawned as a singing group in 2005 following the success of the 2003 Disney Channel movie of the same name, which itself is based on a book series of the same name. The movie (and its first sequel) stars Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan, Kiely Williams, and Raven Symoné. Due to her role in That's So Raven and a solo contract, Symoné does not participate in the singing group.
The Cheetah Girls released their first album, Cheetah-licious Christmas, in October 2005. Consisting of covers of classic Christmas songs plus several original songs, the album peaked at #74 on the Billboard 200. A brief tour followed to support the album's release. A live album, In Concert: The Party's Just Begun Tour, was released in July 2007 and was recorded at a tour stop in California. The album considered the debut studio album, TCG, was released in September 2007. The album charted at #47 on the Billboard 200 and spun off two singles, "So Bring It On" and "Fuego."
The Cheetah Girls have also acted in three films to date, two including Raven Symoné. The success of the first movie, released in August 2003, prompted the creation of the musical group. The second movie, released in August 2006, follows the fictional group while they tour Spain. A third movie, released on August 22, 2008, brings the girls to India, where they are invited to act in a musical.
