About The Comedy Festival

The Comedy Festival is an annual event that brings together some of the top names in comedy, including Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Norton, Dane Cook, and Tracy Morgan, among many others. About Jerry Seinfeld

Few stand-up comedians have had the amount of cultural impact that funny man Jerry Seinfeld has. From his on stage comedy to his critically acclaimed sitcom Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld has put his own spin on everyday life. Jerome Seinfeld was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1954. As a child, Seinfeld became interested in a future in comedy after seeing comedians perform on television. He saw that their entire job was to make people laugh, something he saw himself doing as well. After graduating from college, he attended an open mic night at 'Catch a Rising Star' in New York City. Seinfeld's career took off an appearance on Johnny Carson's show and in just a few years he had established himself as a star in comedy circles. In 1990, when Seinfeld started airing, Jerry Seinfeld began what would be a life-changing career.

About Katt Williams

Katt Williams is considered to be one of the most successful comedic actors ever, with his ability to move from the stage, to music, to film, to cartoons, without missing a beat. Micah S. Katt Williams was born on September 2, 1973 in Cincinnati, Ohio and was raised in Dayton. Katt Williams was an exceptionally smart child and learned how to read at a very young age, but purposely flunked a test to avoid a scholarship. Instead of an academic career Katt Williams started taking interest in music and comedy. He quickly worked his way up to becoming a local personality, and soon was a household name on the BET network. He has been a hit comic for many years appearing in such shows as the MTV show "Wild n' Out," "NYPD Blue," and "Girlfriends", "The Tracy Morgan Show", "My Wife and Kids", and he provided the voice for an animated "Boondocks" character, a pimp named Slickback.

About Kids in the Hall

The Kids in the Hall are a sketch comedy group consisting of Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. In 1986, the group was discovered by Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels and set them on the path to their own television show. The Kids In The Hall HBO special debuted in 1988 and was followed by a regular series. television show consisted of a collection of comedic sketches that featured the actors in a variety of roles. Some of the most memorable characters included the head crusher, the Chicken Lady, Armada, Buddy Cole, and Queen Elizabeth II. Jeff Dunham is an American comedian who never goes up on stage alone. His companions are no more than three feet tall and live in a suitcase. Their names are Walter, Super Melvin, Peanut, José Jalapeño, and Achmed the Dead Terrorist, among others. Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist - he can manipulate his voice so the viewer is under the impression that the puppet in his hand is actually the one speaking. With his act that makes fun of anyone and everyone, Dunham has become one of the most sought after and popular ventriloquists in recent years. Jeff Dunham had a number of specials on Comedy Central, and currently has two DVDs of his shows, Jeff Dunham: Arguing with Myself, and Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity. Jeff Dunham was born in 1960 in Dallas, Texas. He began ventriloquism in college, where his first puppet was José Jalapeño.

Ellen DeGeneres is a stand-up comedian who become internationally famous for her five seasons on the sitcom Ellen. DeGeneres was born on January 26, 1958 in Metairie, Louisiana and grew up in the New Orleans area. She toured at small clubs until the early 1980s, when she began touring nationally. By 1994, she had grown popular enough to be awarded her own television sitcom. Ellen ran for five seasons, from 1994-1998. The show reached its most popular point when Ellen DeGeneres' character, Ellen Morgan, came out as a lesbian only months after DeGeneres herself came out. After Ellen ended, DeGeneres returned to stand-up, and in the summer of 2003 voiced the Finding Nemo character Dory, which brought her back to national attention. That September, she began the Ellen DeGeneres show, which has been a constant critical hit.

About David Alan Grier

David Alan Grier is a comedian best known for his work in the sketch comedy series In Living Color and is also known for his work in many films. Grier was born on June 30, 1955 and got his start in theater. He was nominated for a Tony award for the musical The First and played the role of James "Thunder" Early in the musical Dreamgirls. After appearing in two comedic films, Keenan Williams cast David Alan Grier in the variety show In Living Color. Grier was a popular cast member who won over fans with the portrayal of many types of characters, including Al MacAfee, Mr. Brooks, Calhoun Tubbs, and Antoine Merriweather. Besides ILC, Grier appeared in the sitcom Martin and in the films Boomerang, Blankman, In the Army Now, and Jumanji. Grier currently stars in the Comedy Central series Chocolate News.

Dave Attell was born in Queens, New York in 1965. After graduating college, Attell went out on the comedy club circuit, spending several years performing at local clubs. After several years, Dave Attell was attracting fellow comedians such as Jon Stewart and Kevin Brennan. After an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Attell was approached by Saturday Night Live creator to become a writer and performer. In 1995, Dave Attell was signed as a commentator on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He worked on the show for three years and it further launched his career. He now hosts The Gong Show with Dave Attell on the same network. Attell primarily works with "blue" comedy: jokes that are risqué or profane in nature, but also works in insult comedy and black comedy. He has performed on many Comedy Central and HBO specials.

Tracy Morgan was born on November 10, 1968 in The Bronx, New York and is known for his role of Tracy Jordan on the NBC series 30 Rock, his hosting of the Sci-Fi channel series Scare Tactics and his past work on Saturday Night Live. He got his start on the mid-1990s sitcom Martin, where he played "Hustle Man." In 1996, he joined SNL and worked on the cast until 2003. While on the show where he played several reoccurring characters, and made impressions of many personalities including Samuel L. Jackson, Maya Angelou and Mike Tyson. Tracy Morgan also appeared in the 2005 film The Longest Yard opposite Adam Sandler. Morgan also voiced the character "Spoonie Luv" on the Comedy Central program Crank Yankers.

Jim Breuer was born on June 21, 1967 and is best known for his three-year tenure on Saturday Night Live. Like most stand-up comedians, Breuer started his career by touring around the country performing in comedy clubs. Upon returning to New York, Jim Breuer was recruited to the cast of Saturday Night Live. On the show, Breuer played "Goat Boy" and "Glen Henderson" and also did impressions of actor Joe Pesci. Jim Norton is a stand-up comedian born in Bayonne, New Jersey on July 19, 1968. He is a regular on the Sirius Satellite Radio program The Opie and Anthony Show. Starting off as a guest host, Norton has been an official part of the program since it switched to Sirius. He is best known for his several characters in including "Frunkis," "Uncle Paul," "Ted," "Boardroom Jimmy," Jimcy," and "Steve from Yellowstone." Norton has been on several stand-up specials on HBO including the program One Night Stand. He also starred on the show Lucky Louie and was previously a regular on the Comedy Central series Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. He tours all around the country at clubs in a popular stand-up routine.

Andrew Dice Clay was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 29, 1957. Clay is well known for his character called "The Diceman," an obnoxiously rude and vulgar insult comedian. Clay received some notoriety in years past for his routine which some fellow comedians and actors have found offensive. Before venturing into comedy, Andrew Dice Clay acted in several movies in the 1980s including the slasher film spoof Wacko. After spending several years off the radar following the downfall of his "Diceman" act, Clay tried his hand at acting again for a brief time, starring in the sitcom Bless This House.
