The play was successfully produced Off-Broadway in 1985 and was subsequently revived in Los Angeles, London and again Off-Broadway in 2004. A 2011 Broadway production was also very successful; Joel Grey made his directorial debut with a cast made up of Ellen Barkin, John Benjamin Hickey, Joe Mantello, Lee Pace and Jim Parsons.
