About Three Days Grace

Three Days Grace (sometimes called TDG or 3DG) is actually a reincarnation of a band called Groundswell. Groundswell was founded in 1992 in Ontario, Canada, and consisted of the five teenage friends Adam Gontier, Brad Walst, Neil Sanderson, Joe Grant, and Phil Crowe. After five years, Grant and Crowe left the group, and the remaining three members renamed themselves Three Days Grace.

The group began playing as many gigs as possible and eventually moved to the large city of Toronto in order to gain as much publicity as possible. At first, the group played only covers of other music, but they gradually incorporated original material into their performances as well. Three Days Grace obtained producer Gavin Brown and with his assistance produced the single "(I Hate) Everything About You." The band was signed to Jive Records and released their self-titled debut album in 2003.

After Three Days Grace was released, the band added additional guitarist Barry Stock to their lineup. They released their second album, One-X, on June 13, 2006. The album sold over 78,000 copies in its first week and features the singles "Animal I Have Become," "Pain," and "Never Too Late," all of which reached the number one position on the Active Rock charts. One-X was certified platinum by the RIAA in August 2007 for having sold over one million copies.

Three Days Grace were nominated for the New Group of the Year Award in 2004 and won the Billboard Rock Song of the Year Award for the song "Animal I Have Become" in 2006.
