Born Tremaine Aldon Neverson, Trey Songz was originally from Petersburg, Virginia. He never dreamed of making a career of singing, but in 1998 he entered the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School talent show. He then met New Jersey-based music producer Troy Taylor. The pair agreed that Trey should finish his high school career before pursuing a music career full time. So during the school year Trey and friends formed a music group called Late Night Productions who would perform at various events and functions. During the summers he would work on his music with Troy.
In 2003, Trey signed his first record deal with Atlantic Records for $100,000 advance. Two years later he released his first album called Gotta Make It. It was moderately successful, selling about 300,000 albums. His most successful album is Passion, Pain, and Pleasure. He collaborated with Nicki Minaj for the single "Bottoms Up," which was the albums leading single.
Apart from his music career, he was cast as the male lead role, Ryan, in the 2011 movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D.
