The 2013 festival is following in the steps of Coachella and expanding to two weekends. Now in its 15th year, this year's festival will feature David Guetta, deadmau5, and Tiesto on both weekends. Other performers include Bassnectar, Thievery Corporation, and Afrojack. Ultra is one of the biggest electronic music festivals, so you don't want to miss out on experiencing it.
Ultra is a Miami-based music festival founded in 1999 by Russel Faibisch, an insurance and bail bonds businessman, and Alex Omes, a nightclub manager. Seeking to feature the best in the EDM scene, the pair invited DJs to perform at a small open-air space behind an Outback Steakhouse. Since then, Ultra has grown into one of the top grossing festivals of the year, with a major venue setting and sales of more than 100,000 tickets to electronic music fans.
Many participating acts are now Ultra veterans, including deadmau5, Carl Cox, and Underworld. In recent years, the festival has scheduled crossover acts like the Black Eyed Peas and the Ting Tings. The Ultra Music Festival typically coincides with the long-running Winter Music Conference, an electronic music industry trade show, although the 2011 Ultra festival will take place separately due to scheduling conflicts.
