The Warped Tour was created by promoter Kevin Lyman in 1994 at the height of the punk revolution and originally featured skate punk and third-wave ska band, but now feature more hardcore punk and post-hardcore acts. Playing on the skating theme, the tour features a half pipe for skaters and bikers, and the tour itself has been sponsored by bicycling/skating shoe manufacturer Vans since 1995. In addition to the bicycling and skating activities, the tour features a flea-market type marketplace where sponsors, promoters, labels, and non-profits alike sell their products or promote their causes.
