Yellowcard originally came together in 1997 in Jacksonville, Florida. They went through many line-up changes early in their history, and it wasn't until the group moved into southern California that they began to make waves. Although they had released three studio LP albums on smaller labels, it was in 2002 that Yellowcard signed their first major record deal with Capitol Records. Under Capitol they released their major label debut album with Ocean Avenue in 2003. The album catapulted Yellowcard onto the charts, landing at #23 on the US Billboard charts. Ocean Avenue was certified two times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and included three Top 25 singles: "Way Away," "Ocean Avenue" and "Only One."
It was three years later that Yellowcard released their sophomore album, Lights and Sounds (2006), and it climbed the charts. It peaked at #5 on the US Billboard chart and included the only Top 5 single to date with the song "Lights and Sounds." They have since released the albums Paper Walls (2007) and Live From Las Vegas at the Palms (2008), both of which charted in the Top 20.
