Yellowcard is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, FL in 1997 by friends who met at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. The band’s original lineup consisted of Ben Dobson as the lead vocalist, Todd Clary as guitarist and vocalist, Ben Harper as guitarist, Warren Cooke as the bassist, Sean Mackin as the violinist, Ryan Key as backup vocals, and Longineu Parsons III as the band’s drummer.
Yellowcard released their debut album, Midget Tossing in April 1997 under Takeover Records. Their second album, Where We Stand was released in 1999 and featured the same lineup as Midget Tossing. However, these would be the band’s only two albums to feature Ben Dobson as the lead vocalist. He was replaced by former backup vocalist and current lead vocalist, Ryan Key, which subsequently changed the band from a hardcore punk style to a pop punk style.
In 2003, Yellowcard released the album Ocean Avenue, which featured the hit single of the same name. The album was a commercial success and was certified platinum by the RIAA. The band would go on to release two more albums before going on hiatus in 2008. The band reformed in 2011 and has released three more albums, most recently Lift a Sail in 2014. Over the years, band members have come and gone, and only two original band members, Ryan Key and Sean Mackin remain with the band.
In 2015, Yellowcard is embarking on a co-headlining tour with New Found Glory, which will make stops in cities across the country throughout the fall months.
