On Tour - Yes Tickets

For over forty years, Yes has accumulated millions of fans, has undergone personnel and stylistic changes, and has weathered break-ups, yet it still remains a very popular band to this day. Formed in 1968 by vocalist Jon Anderson and bassist Chris Squire, Yes has released 19 studio albums, seven live albums, and dozens of singles. The band combines several different styles of rock music, including progressive, symphonic, and hard rock, to create a sound that is unique to them. Along with the normal guitar-bass-percussion setup found in most rock bands Yes have frequently used thirty-plus piece orchestras in their studio albums.

Earlier this year, Yes had to cancel their summer tour due to an asthma attack suffered by lead singer Jon Anderson. However, they band will embark on a fall North American tour, fulfilling 28 dates in the United States and Canada. As his is still recovering from his illness, Benoit David of Yes tribute band "Close to the Edge" will fill in for Anderson. Act now in order to see upcoming Yes performances, such as Yes in Toronto, Yes in Detroit, and Yes in Atlanta.

About Yes

Yes was formed when vocalist Jon Anderson and bassist Chris Squire met in a nightclub in 1968 and discovered they shared similar musical interests. The duo also invited Tony Kaye on keyboards, Peter Banks on guitar, and Bill Bruford on drums to join the group. The newly formed Yes sought to emulate and refine the best qualities of music from big ticket artists like Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, and the Fifth Dimension.

Yes performed live for the first time in August of 1968, and opened for Eric Clapton's Cream soon after. Yes was signed to Atlantic Records in 1969, and released their first single, "Sweetness" shortly thereafter. Yes' self-titled debut album came out in November of 1969, and was followed by Time and a Word in 1970.

Yes ticket sales began to take off, as the group began touring with artists like Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, Jethro Tull, and the J. Geils Band. Yes' next three albums, The Yes Album and Fragile, both released in 1971, and Close to the Edge (1972), were highly acclaimed and earned the band much critical and commercial success. Yes became one of the biggest concert draws of the period, and fans bought up Yes tickets in order to experience their high quality live performances.

Due to their emergence in the seventies psychedelic-rock era, Yes developed a signature surreal and melodic sound which can be heard in the popular singles "I've Seen All Good People," "Owner of a Lonely Heart," "Love Will Find A Way," and " "Lift Me Up." Yes produced a number of highly successful albums, including Tormato (1978), 90215 (1983), Big Generator (1987), and most recently Magnification (2001).

Yes broke up in 1981, reformed in 1983, disbanded again in 1988, and reunited for a second time in 1991. The rest of the nineties were full of turmoil for Yes, but the group muddled through, producing a variety of live material as well as selling many tickets to their shows. Yes came together to celebrate their 35th anniversary with a tour in 2004, but have remained mostly under the radar since. In May 2008, lead singer Jon Anderson suffered an asthma attack and the band subsequently canceled their summer tour. However, the band did decide to go on with a fall tour, with Yes tribute band singer Benoit David filling in for Anderson.
