Rated 5 out of 5 by from A 'Wicked' Good Time What a fabulous show! We're from Western Maine and we like to visit Boston on special occasions, like when a show is in town. I gave my mother tickets to Wicked at the Boston Opera House for Christmas. Lucky for me, she brought me along. The Wicked cast kept us on the edge of our seats all night. Glenda and Alphie embodied the roles they played. Boston Opera House has great acoustics and has been meticulously restored. We highly recommend to theatre-goers!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected More The set was the same throughout the entire production. The acting was okay and the singing was alright. The crowd did not stop clapping along to every song which got quite annoying. I wouldn't have paid the price for the tickets based on the performance. I have gone to high school productions much better than this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing show! Fantastic from start to finish! Acting, singing, costumes, sets... all first class. Highly recommend this for a laugh out loud entertaining evening. The theatre venue alone was worth the price of admission. So beautifully restored.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Performance The performance was perfect from start to finish and with only a 15 minute intermission, I was amazed at the stamina that the entire cast dispayed. If I closed my eyes, it was the originals.

Boston Opera House

The Boston Opera House opened in 1928 as the B.F. Keith Memorial Theatre, a movie palace designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb. It remained one of the most popular movie palaces in Boston through the 1950s. The theater closed in 1980 and was quickly converted to a performing arts venue that became the home of the Opera Company of Boston. The opera company fell victim to financial troubles in 1991, and the theater was left without a tenant.

After years of decay and damage, the theater reopened in 2004 after $38 million in renovations had taken place. The funds for the renovation were provided by the Clear Channel Company.

The Boston Ballet is the venue's main tenant, however, other productions, including Something Rotten! and Jersey Boys have been performed at the Boston Opera House.
