About  Melanie Martinez - Musician

The Melanie Martinez K-12 Tour 2020 is alive and well, and the former star of The Voice is coming to a venue near you! You don’t want to miss a Melanie Martinez concert when this unique performer comes to town.

New York native Melanie Martinez was still in high school when she auditioned for the third season of The Voice in 2012. Her appearance on the show almost didn’t happen when her family’s car broke down on the way to her first audition, but the determined teen flagged down a cab and made it there on time, and the rest is history!

Martinez may not have won her season of The Voice, but her distinctive voice and signature style not only caught the attention of the judges and fans, but of music industry executives. Martinez was signed soon after by Atlantic Records, and her first EP, Dollhouse, was released in 2014. The EP included the single, also entitled “Dollhouse,” and the song quickly went platinum. Martinez toured in support of the EP, and also appeared in support of Lindsey Stirling and The Voice coach Adam Lambert.

The following year, Martinez’ debut studio album, Cry Baby, was released. Three singles from the album scored on Billboard’s alternative and pop charts: “Pity Party”, “Soap,” and “Sippy Cup,” and fans started referring to the young star as the “Emo-Pop Queen.”

The Cry Baby Tour (2015-2016) brought Martinez first true solo tour, playing larger venues and selling out audiences to her cult-like legion of fans. Melanie Martinez tickets were among the best-selling of the year.

After the success of Cry Baby, in 2017 Martinez announced that she was writing a full-length film to be released along with her next studio album, telling the story of the characters from Cry BabyMartinez spent two years writing, producing, shooting and starring in the film. It was released in theaters and on YouTube in May of 2019, and the musical segments from the movie became the videos for the songs that were included in September’s studio album, K-12.

Martinez has two more films and accompanying albums planned. Her February 2020 single, “Copy Cat,” and soon-to-be-released 2020 EP, After School will give fans a preview of the first of these projects.
