Hall and Oates Tickets

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Hall & Oates are the number one selling musical duo of all time, a record they achieved in 1987 and still hold to this day. That achievement happened twenty years after they first got together. And the story of that first meeting is one of the best in rock and roll history.

In 1967, Daryl Hall and John Oates were each fronting their own musical group. They were facing off at a “battle of the bands” competition when a real battle broke out at the music venue as two rival gangs opened fire on one another! The two band leaders ran for cover and found themselves in the same service elevator. They hit it off and became friends, roommates and, eventually, a musical duo.

Hall & Oates, as the pair became known, released their first album Whole Oats in 1972. The album failed to chart, as did their next two albums. Then, in 1975, Hall & Oates switched labels. Their first release with RCA, entitled Daryl Hall and John Oates, scored their first commercial success, largely fueled by the monster hit “Sara Smile,” quickly followed by “She’s Gone,” actually a re-release from an earlier album, but this time it made it to number seven on the Billboard charts.

The tour hit the road to tour in support of their first album, with 59 stops in North America and Europe. While not their first tour, it was their first time headlining in larger venues, and Hall & Oats concert tickets were selling out worldwide.

In 1978, “Rich Girl” became the duo’s first number one hit, and the duo hit the top spot five more times in the next decade. During this time, the pair also produced nine studio albums and three live albums, touring extensively in support of each new release. In 1985 Hall & Oates performed as part of the historic “We Are the World” session.

For the next twenty years, Hall & Oates continued to record and perform, but with less frequency and less commercial success. While they made occasional appearances together, the stopped touring as a duo. Both artists also branched out into solo work, both as performers and songwriters. In 2007, Daryl Hall launched the web series Live From Daryl’s House, featuring a wide range of performers and many different musical styles.

In 2014, Hall & Oates were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

In 2017, Daryl Hall and John Oates announced that they would again hit the road for a 29-city arena tour. Every Hall & Oates concert on the tour sold out quickly. In 2020, the pair is touring again, and Daryl Hall & John Oates 2020 Tour tickets are as popular as they have ever been! You’ll find great seats to all Hall & Oates concerts today at Ticket Network.
