Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing performance! What an amazing time seeing Cabaret live at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts! The actors had amazing singing voices, and the set designs really transformed the stage and me feel as if I was in 1940's Berlin. I would recommend getting to the theater early or on time. It was very distracting when people would walk into the theater late, that was the only thing I did not enjoy about the show.

Some of these awards include a Tony for the Best Musical in 1967, Tonys for the Best Revival of a Musical in 1987 and 1998, as well as many others. After a one year engagement on Broadway, performances of Cabaret are taking place in cities across the country in 2016.

Cabaret Plot Summary

Based on the novella written by Christopher Isherwood in 1939, Cabaret takes place in 1931 Berlin in the Kit Kat Club. With World War I in the past and Hitler's rise on the horizon, this seedy club is an escape from daily life. The play revolves around the lives of Sally Bowles, a young performer, and Cliff Bradshaw, an American writer. Along with these two, there is the colorful Emcee, as well as Herr Schultz and Fraulein Schneider. The show is a gritty musical wherein the audience of the show is essentially the audience at the Kit Kat Club. It is easy to be sucked into this story with the mix of intense romance and entrancing musical performances.
