Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great concert! I was very disappointed in the fact that when i got to my seats at 7:15, the Doobie Brothers were already playing and had gone on early. My tickets said a 7:30 start, for that i was very disappointed in that the Doobies are one of my favorite bands. This issue did not start my experience with DTE favorably!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took me back to my youth! When I first walked in I saw old people with gray hair, hearing aides, comfortable shoes and I thought what have I done?!? The first song we were on our feet singing, clapping and dancing. It was so good! Never underestimate the power of good music!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doobie Brothers & Chicago Doobie Brothers & Chicago are tremendous! DTE is deplorable. Traffic control is non-existent. It was that way 15 years ago and is still exactly the same. There is absolutely NO excuse for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent concert !!! It was a long time since I attended such a good concert with a great band. I'll take my daughter next time with me so that she sees and hears what a real rock band sounds like.

The Doobie Brothers - 2016 Tour

The Doobie Brothers will embark on a co-headlining trek with Journey in 2016. The two bands will be joined by Dave Mason. In a release about the tour, Doobie Brothers member's Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons stated “we look forward to taking the stage with Journey. We love their songs, and think we will all complement each other musically.”

Luckily for the two band’s and their fans, they’ll be taking the stage together 50 times. The tour will begin at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA on May 12, with the final show scheduled to take place at Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista, CA on August 30.

The Doobie Brothers Biography

The Doobie Brothers were founded in 1969 when singer and guitarist Tom Johnston and drummer John Hartman were introduced. The two formed the band Pud and performed around the San Jose area, experimenting with different sounds and line-ups. Over time, the band started to find members that fit their style and decided to revamp their name and change it to the Doobie Brothers in 1970. They recorded their self-titled debut album in 1971, but the album received little fanfare and failed to land on the charts. Their sophomore effort, Toulouse Street (1972), featured a more eclectic mix of songs. The album was the launching point for the band, as it reached the Top 25 on the charts and was certified platinum in the US. They followed up Toulouse Street with two more platinum selling albums, The Captain and Me (1973) and What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits (1974).

In the following years, the Doobie Brothers would be forced to make line-up changes. One of the changes they made came in 1975, when lead singer Tom Johnston was forced to temporarily leave the band with a medical condition and was replaced by singer Michael McDonald. While the Doobie Brothers' first album with McDonald was not as successful as its predecessors, the second, 1976's Takin' It to the Streets, changed the band's sound from country to jazz, which proved to be a successful change. The album went to the Top 10 and was certified platinum. People all over the country were looking to buy Doobie Brothers tickets.

Over the more than thirty years after Takin' It to the Streets was released, the Doobie Brothers have been able to release more top selling albums, including the platinum selling Minute by Minute (1978) and One Step Closer (1980). The Doobie Brothers most recent album, Southbound was released in 2014.
