About Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake has pursued many career paths since being a Mouseketeer in the early 1990s. Timberlake joined The Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 and appeared alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and future bandmate JC Chasez. After the show ended in 1995, Timberlake and Chasez joined forces and formed what would become 'N Sync.

During the years they were active, Justin Timberlake and 'N Sync rose from obscurity to a household name. In 1998, the band released 'NSYNC, which sold 11 million copies and included hit singles such as "Tearing Up My Heart." After a two-year legal battle with manager Lou Pearlman, the band signed with Jive Records and released their second album, No Strings Attached, in March 2000. In 2001, 'N Sync released the album Celebrity. After the completion of a tour in 2002 in support of Celebrity, the group decided to take time off. 'N Sync is regularly the subject of rumors and denials of its return to touring. The band has gotten back together once since the hiatus began, for a short one-off performance with Timberlake in 2013, but otherwise remains inactive.

After 'N Sync went on hiatus, Justin Timberlake started recording his first solo album, and in November 2002 he released Justified. Though it ultimately sold fewer copies than 'N Sync albums, it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and went on to sell seven million copies worldwide. Timberlake went on tour in support of the album in the summer of 2003, co-headlining with Christina Aguilera. At the end of 2003, Timberlake recorded a song entitled "I'm Lovin' It," which was used by McDonalds for a marketing campaign.

In February 2004, Timberlake performed during the halftime show of SuperBowl XXXVIII with Janet Jackson, during which he tore off part of Jackson's black leather costume. Part of the costume became detached, and the "wardrobe malfunction" controversy ensued. After the Superbowl, Timberlake took time off from recording music to act in several films. Timberlake appeared in Edison Force, Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, Southland Tales, and as the voice of young King Arthur in Shrek the Third.

In September 2006, Timberlake released his second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, which debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. The album has spun off three number one singles, including the popular "SexyBack." After the release of the album, Timberlake went on the "FutureSex/LoveShow" tour to promote the album. Since the end of the tour, Timberlake has resumed acting in films, starring in The Love Guru and The Open Road. Also in March, the single "4 Minutes" was released, a duet with Madonna that comes from the pop singer's eleventh album, Hard Candy.

Timberlake became active in the music scene once again in 2013, announcing his third solo album, The 20/20 Experience, and releasing a single, "Suit & Tie," featuring Jay-Z. Soon afterward he announced the Legends The Summer Tour, a co-headlining run with Jay-Z.
