Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Pentatonix! Pentatonix at the Iowa State Gair was awesome. The only drawback was the noise and lights from the midway rides. My suggestion for future fair shows would be to sit in sections from the middle to end of the alphabet. We were in section D. The noise and lights weren't too distracting except on the acoustic number they did without microphones. That being said, I was still amazed at what we could here without the micriohones and in the open air. Too many favorite moments to name them all but a few weee "Inagine,". "Bohemian Rhapsody," and the Cello pieces. Loved the show.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love Love Love The venue is very spread out and our seats were towards the end so we didn't have very good views of the stage but we were seated in front of a big projection screen which was excellent. The performances were amazing! Second time I have seen us the duo and Pentatonix and they keep getting better and better! The sound system was a little off at the beginning but it resolved itself around the 3rd song. Both groups are wonderful, very down to earth, and easy to relate to. great variety in music and astounding tallent. Worth every cent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome experience This was my first concert ever and Pentatonix was a great choice for a newbie like me! Their albums are great but they sound even better live! Getting in and finding a spot to sit was pretty easy since I didnt bring too many people. We were out on the lawn but I didn't feel like I was far away at all. It was a wonderful birthday experience!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice Concert -Needed a better venue We were looking forward to the Pentatonix concert for months! We arrive to find our seats were to the very far right of the stage. There were two large TV screens but the closest screen was blocked by the VIP tent. The view of the main stage was tiny so the only hope of the concert was the sound system. The opening act was difficult to hear because of the bands coming from the fair grounds. The sound system was improved for Pentatonix. We enjoyed hearing their songs. Most of them were cover songs though. The group is impressive on how they sing acapella. When we walked down a level, the sound from the fair grounds was even louder and drowned out their voices. Having seats in the upper level at least blocked out most of the fair ground noise. Would have liked to hear more original songs. And definitely in a different venue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing concert!!!! The opener was a little weak and the band was WAY TOO LOUD! Us the Duo was great and perfect sound level. They are very entertaining and both very talented musicians. Pentatonix were the best I've seen in years!!!! The lighting, the background displays, the sound, everything was perfect!!! They are SOOO INCREDIBLE!!!! My son teaches music education, and he thought they were fantastic --couldn't wait to see them in person.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great event The concert was great with a good mix of different songs and variations of singing acapella and together with the orchestra. Very nice venue with the possibility to bring your own food and drink and have a picnic. Nice fireworks at the end of the show. We were seated pretty far back, and it was difficult to get too much facial expressions on the artist even from the big screens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pentatonix and Us the Duo were Incredible! I am simply in awe of the talent of both of these groups. I did not know Us the Duo before the concert but am certainly a fan now. Pentatonix is simply amazing as always. I was blown away by their performance. This is absolutely in my top 3 concerts of my 53-year life!

"Pentatonix" Album

In 2015, Pentatonix released the album Pentatonix, which is the group's first album comprised of all original material. That said, the deluxe version of Pentatonix does include covers of Justin Bieber's "Where Are U Now," OMI's "Cheerleader," and Major Lazer's "Lean On." Released on October 16, Pentatonix debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The album is also certified gold by the RIAA.

Pentatonix Biography

The forerunner of Pentatonix formed when Kristie Maldonado, Scott Hoying, and Mitch Grassi recorded a cover of Lady Gaga's "Telephone" and sent it in to a competition to meet the cast of Glee. It didn't win, but they started gaining a fan base after uploaded the video to YouTube. Later, the group decided to audition for The Sing-Off, which is when they recruited Avi Kaplan and Kevin Olusola so they could meet the show's memebership requirements. Shortly after, they settled on the name "Pentatonix."

The group was ultimately successful in auditions, and went on to win season 3 of The Sing-Off. After winning, Pentatonix went to work on their first album while continuing to release video covers of popular songs on YouTube. The first EP, PTX, Volume 1 was released in June 2012, followed by a debut national tour. Pentatonix made additional releases in 2013 and 2014, including video collaborations with Lindsey Stirling and Todrick Hall in 2013, as well as their first full-scale studio album in 2014.
