About The Heiress Tickets

The Heiress was written in 1947 by playwrights Ruth and Augustus Goetz. The play is adapted from the 1880 novel Washington Square, and the show first opened on Broadway on September 29, 1947, closing almost a year later after 410 performances. The Heiress Plot Summary

The Heiress takes place in 1850, as a shy young woman named Catherine Sloper lives with her father, a doctor. When a handsome new suitor enters Catherine's life, she falls in love with him, not realizing that he is only after her money.
