About The Throne

The Throne is a collaborative effort between hip hop heavyweights Jay-Z and Kanye West. The two artists' histories go back more than a decade, and although the they had worked produced and appeared on each other's albums, they had not yet co-headlined one. The first hints of the collaboration came in August 2010 when West announced that he and Jay-Z would work on an EP called Watch The Throne. By October it had been upgraded to a full album.

Boasting an ornate album cover to match its name, Watch The Throne was released on August 8, 2011, to generally positive reviews. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and quickly rose to platinum status. Rolling Stone gave it 3.5/5 stars and other critics praised it for the production values. The album spawned four singles including "Otis," "Lift Off," and "Why I Love You." Shortly before the album was released the two artists announced their Watch The Throne tour, to start in late October.
