Riverdance recently completed its 25th Anniversary and will be touring in 2021 for its Riverdance – 25th Anniversary Show. This is Riverdance as you have never seen it before. 25 years to the day since Riverdance first performed at the Point Theatre, experience the spectacular show back where it all began. For its 25th Anniversary celebration, Whelan has rerecorded his mesmerizing soundtrack while producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have completely reimagined the ground-breaking show with innovative and spectacular lighting, projection, stage and costume designs.
25 years ago on 30th April 1994, Producer Moya Doherty, composer Bill Whelan and director John McColgan started their Riverdance journey with a 7 minutes’ performance which changed the face of Irish dancing forever. The Eurovision time dance act performance showed an exciting new glimpse of future of Irish dance. The performance was seen by almost 300 million viewers all over the world and received a standing ovation from 4000 people that bought Riverdance tickets in the theater. That’s indeed some spectacular standing ovation.
Riverdance: The show premiered at Point Theater in Dublin on 9th Feb 1995 and within 3 days the tickets reached its record sales of 120,000. In April 1995, video release of Riverdance went straight to No. 1 in the Irish charts. The group also played at Royal Gala 50th Anniversary at the special invitation of Prince Charles. After its Phenomenal performances in Dublin and London in 1995, Riverdance reached New York on March 1996 to captivate the audience here.
