The musical follows the protagonist, Drew, who works as a busboy for the Bourbon Room but has dreams of becoming a Rockstar himself. Drew meets Sherrie, an aspiring actress that just moved into the city. He convinces Dennis to hire Sherrie at the Bourbon Room and that’s where their love story begins.

However, real estate developers convince the Mayor of West Hollywood to demolish the Sunset Strip including the Bourbon Room. This leaves these wannabe rockers with no choice but to try to save their beloved workplace from demolition. Rock of Ages began as a small Los Angeles production for a few years before opening on Off-Broadway in 2008. In April of 2009, Rock of Ages became an original Broadway production which ran for nearly six years. Rock of Ages also toured North America between 2010-2014. The show also premiered in the UK in August of 2011 and ran for two years until it went on its first national UK tour in 2014.
